  • 9/5/2017 – Free flu shots, other vaccinations available

    The St. Christopher Truckers Fund will continue its vaccine voucher program for the 2017-18 season. You can get your vouchers from OOIDA’s Jon Osburn on the Spirit, the Associations’ tour truck or online from the St. Christopher Fund website. The vouchers are solely for truck drivers who hold a valid CDL. Flu shot vouchers will be available Oct. 1 through April 30. Vouchers for the pneumonia and shingles vaccines will be available Oct. 1 through Sept. 20th. For information, go to the St. Christopher Fund website.

    If a carrier, shipper, receiver or broker coerces you to violate the regulations, document the coercive act, whether text messages and your replies, screenshots from within your logbook or whatever the case may be. Then:

  • 4/9/2018 – FMCSA wants to hear from you

    Mark Reddig and Land Line Magazine Managing Editor Jami Jones spoke with Ray Martinez, head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, at the recent Mid America Trucking Show. Martinez mentioned asking truckers for feedback and encouraging them to search out information through the agency’s website, You can click here for the online contact form.

  • 4/10/2018 – Tanker haulers get ELD exemption

    The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has granted a five-year exemption from the 30-minute rule break to tanker drivers who normally operate under the 100 air-mile short-haul hours of service – and who haul certain petroleum-based fuels. The exemption would kick in when the driver needs to work longer than 12 hours. It goes into effect immediately. Read the exemption here.

  • 4/25/2018 – ELD violations now in CSA

    The FMCSA has updated the CSA’s Safety Measurement System to reflect new ELD violations. As of April 1, drivers will start to see ELD violations in their HOS Compliance Basic. We’ll have a link to the complete list of the ELD violations and their severity weights online.

  • 4/25/2018 – Road Check dates set

    The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual Roadcheck enforcement blitz will take place June 5th through the 7th. This year, enforcement officers throughout the U.S. and Canada will focus on hours-of-service compliance.

  • 7/15/2018 – Safe Driver Week set

    Law Enforcement will be on the lookout for unsafe commercial and passenger vehicle drivers July 15th through the 21st during Operation Safe Driver week. Behaviors tracked during the event include speeding, distracted driving, texting, failure to use a seatbelt and more.
